Wednesday, 10/28 - Monday, 11/16 - Vote for Just Harvest in online balloting for our Women’s and Girls Foundation Proposal - Just Harvest Education Fund is one of 10 finalists for funding from the Women & Girls Foundation of Southwestern Pa. Your online vote can support our proposal to advocate that the PA Department of Public Welfare drop their plans to undermine access to items such as schoolbooks, work clothing and transportation for school, work, or job training for women on welfare.

Tuesday, 11/24 from 6pm-8pm - Just Harvest Holiday Shopping Night Come support Just Harvest during our Holiday Shopping Night at Ten Thousand Villages in Squirrel Hill. Ten Thousand Villages will donate a percentage of net sales rung during the evening to Just Harvest. Since this is the gift giving season, what better way to shop than by buying gifts that give three times:  First -- to the gift recipient, Second - to the artisans by providing a living wage, and Third - to Just Harvest.  

 

SNAP/Food Stamp Program guidelines increase

Effective October 1, 2009, the federal government increased the gross income guidelines for the SNAP/Food Stamp Program.  Every year on October 1st, the monthly income guidelines go up, due to inflation.  

In July, Pennsylvania also increased the gross income guidelines from 130% to 160% of the federal poverty level for households without an elderly and/or disabled person, and to 200% for households with an elderly and/or disabled person.

WIC Has New Food Package

Wonderful things are happening with the new Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food Program’s (WIC) food package. The new food package starts October 1, 2009.  People who have WIC appointments starting August 15th will get their new food package vouchers for October then.
