Just Harvest is seeking motivated interns to assist low-income households through our ongoing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Outreach Project. These interns will assist in informing our struggling neighbors about SNAP benefits and assist them through the application process by:
- Completing eligibility screenings and applications.
- Talking to community groups about SNAP benefits
- Coordinating tabling activities at community events and resource fairs.
- Updating brochures and materials.
- Reaching out to organizations to provide up to date materials to them.
- Assisting with scanning and faxing documents for clients.
- Making follow-up calls to clients as they continue through the application process.
Time Commitment: We are seeking interns for weekday hours (9am-6pm) who can commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week for a 10 week period.
Some additional evening and weekend activities may be available.
Skills required:
- Maintain client confidentiality
- Empathy for financially struggling household
- Basic computer skills
- Must provide their own transportation to events around Allegheny County.
Training: is provided on a one-on-one basis.
