"From the Grassroots to Inside the Beltway!"

Just Harvest made some waves nationally recently!  On Wednesday, October 26, the Center for American Progress Action Fund hosted an event in Washington DC to release the Half-in-Ten Campaign's new report "Restoring Shared Prosperity: Strategies to Cut Poverty and Expand Economic Growth."

The keynote speaker for the event was US Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, and the moderator for a 30-minute panel on the necessary strategies and priorities to overcome poverty was best-selling author and social critic Barbara Ehrenreich (best known for her book “Nickel and Dimed”).  And, our own Co-Director Tara Marks was there to offer a grassroots perspective on the strategy to cut US poverty in half in the next 10 years!

The new report establishes a set of indicators pertaining to job growth, poverty reduction and family economic security for use in Half In Ten's tracking of progress toward reducing the number of Americans living in poverty by half over the next decade.
