![]() Volunteer OpportunitiesGive Paychecks a Boost!Tax Preparers Work at least 4 hours per week preparing taxes for low-income workers. Qualifications include basic tax knowledge (additional training will be provided), computer skills for inputting tax information, good interpersonal skills, comfort with a wide range of people and dependable. Tax law training could be done online or with a student text on your own time or at a class in East Liberty on Saturday, January 5th. There will be a mandatory training on TaxWise software on Saturday, January 12th (MLK Day) from 9-4. Tax preparation will begin on January 22 and run through April 15th. Volunteers are needed during day, evening and Saturday hours. This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill, work with a wide range of people and make a significant difference in their lives. Client Intake Specialists Volunteers are needed to assist with the daily operations of the free tax preparation program including greeting taxpayers and assisting them with completing intake forms and explaining follow-up paperwork. We need people with good interpersonal skills and comfort with a wide range of people. Your assistance 4 hours per week from January 22nd through April 15th would make a big difference in helping our tax preparation run smoothly and making it a pleasant experience for everyone. Volunteers are needed during evening and Saturday hours. This is a great task for people who want to help people get their taxes done but don’t want to prepare tax returns or can’t attend the training. Information Coordinators If you want to help low-income families in a simple yet profound way, consider volunteering as an Information Coordinator at Just Harvest’s free tax site. Information Coordinators help our tax site run smoothly by preparing informational packets and tax preparation folders for our clients. They also help us keep track of our clients by accurately recording their information in our database. Volunteers for this position should have basic computer skills, an eye for details, and be willing to commit to 2 hours a week during tax season (January 22nd - April 18th). Information coordinators have the opportunity to work with an award-winning non-profit organization, assist low-income families, and may be involved in working on many of the advocacy and educational projects that Just Harvest does.
