Special Allowances

Clients who are involved in an Employment and Training Program (all TANF clients and some Food Stamp only clients) may be eligible for special allowances to help them get a job, education or training. When you ask for a special allowance or are offered one from your case worker, you must provide verification of the need. For example, verification for school supplies would be a letter or invoice from your school’s bookstore. Upon receipt of your request and the verification, you should receive a notice within ten days. Some other examples of allowances that you may be eligible for are listed on the following chart.
