2017 Primary Election: Pittsburgh Public Schools Board of Directors, District 3

The two candidates for Pittsburgh Public Schools Board of Directors, District 3 — James Myers, Jr. and Sala Udin — answered the following question as part of a voter education event for the May 16, 2017 Primary Election:

As a PPS Director, what would you do to improve the well-being of low-income Pittsburgh children? In your answer please address: child nutrition and equitable development (including affordable housing).

Myers and Udin are running as Democrats for a seat currently held by Thomas Sumpter. He decided not to seek re-election.

The event took place on May 2, 2017. It was cosponsored by Just Harvest and Pittsburgh Food Policy Council, moderated by Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter Chris Potter, and took place at Brookline Teen Outreach Center.
