POSTPONED: Empty Bowls 2020
March 15 @ 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm$10 – $25
A community meal to fight hunger
With the health and safety of our neighbors in mind, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Just Harvest have chosen to postpone the 2020 Empty Bowls Dinner due to the growing concerns surrounding the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus).
In light of the ongoing public health concern and after consulting with Rodef Shalom, out of an abundance of caution we’ve decided to take preventative measures to avoid mass gatherings and observe social distancing. Both organizations will monitor the status of COVID-19 in southwestern Pennsylvania and decide on a date to reschedule Empty Bowls once the virus does not pose a threat to our community. Tickets already purchased for Empty Bowls will be honored at the rescheduled event.
We thank you for your understanding at this time. We look forward to joining you for a meal of soup at a later date.
The annual Empty Bowls is a simple community meal of soup and bread to help remind people of the one in eight residents of Allegheny County who are facing hunger. Pittsburgh’s Empty Bowls typically draws more than 1,500 people and has raised more than $500,000 to fight hunger in our region.
This marks the 25th year that Just Harvest and Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will co-host the event. Funds raised will benefit both organizations equally.
The dinner features soup cooked by some of Pittsburgh’s top restaurants. Local personality soup servers, a silent auction of ceramic art and celebrity-autographed bowls, live music, children’s activities, and soup-to-go are part of the festivities.
Each ticket-holder gets to choose a beautiful handmade bowl to take home.
