Fare Equity Rally, Press Conference, and Petition Presentation

Transit shouldn’t cost more for Shana because she lives in a community without CONNECT Card access.

It shouldn’t cost more for Dwayne because he can’t pay $97.50 at one time for a monthly pass.

It shouldn’t cost more for Lydia because she now needs three buses to get to her new job.

Together with 2,500 riders who’ve supported the Make Our Fares Fair petition, Pittsburghers for Public Transit, Just Harvest and Mon Valley Initiative are calling on the Port Authority to pass three simple policies to make our fares fair and grow ridership:

1. Free transfers
2. No penalty for cash fares
3. Fare capping

This is all possible, but it won’t happen without your support.

We invite you to join us for the rally and press conference 8:30am on December 7 at the corner of 6th Ave and Wood St downtown. And/or please join us a few blocks away at the Port Authority Board of Directors at 9:30 am at 345 Sixth Ave., 5th Floor, for the presentation of the petition signatures and to support those giving testimony as to how these policies would improve riders’ lives.
