New chefs and dozens of soups at the 2019 Empty Bowls

2019 Empty Bowls flyerThe annual Empty Bowls Dinner serves up a simple but delicious meal of soup and bread as a reminder of the roughly 1 in 7 people throughout our region who struggle to keep food on the table. All proceeds will be used to reduce hunger in our region.

Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Just Harvest will co-host the 23rd Annual Empty Bowls Dinner on Sunday, March 10, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (with two different seating times) at Rodef Shalom in Oakland.

This is a family-friendly event with something for everyone. There will be great kids activities from the Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse, the ceramic bowl every ticketholder gets to select from among thousands made by local artisans and students, and the chance to meet new dining companions – all for a great cause!

And of course, you’ll get to eat some delicious soup, served up by local celebrities and cooked up by some of the city’s great chefs.

2019 Empty Bowls soups

More than three dozen Pittsburgh restaurants and caterers are donating several hundred gallons of soup, which will be served up with yummy Breadworks rolls. There will also be cookies from Giant Eagle and delicious Millie’s ice cream!

(And this year’s Empty Bowls event has a zero waste goal with a focus on being a reduced-waste event!)
