Two Important Budget Rallies Set for May 18 & 19

Just Harvest invites you to participate with us in two rallies in support of a fair state budget, scheduled for Wednesday, May 18 and Thursday, May 19.

The ‘Why Cut What Works?’ Rally Against State Budget Cuts, is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. this coming Wednesday, May 18th at Market Square, Downtown Pittsburgh.  This rally is convened by the United Way, the Greater Pittsburgh NonProfit Partnership and the Pittsburgh Foundation. For more information on this campaign, visit www.whycutwhatworks.org

The Coalition for Labor Engagement and Accountable Revenues (CLEAR) is organizing a fair budget rally across from Rep. Mike Turzai’s office, at 4:30 pm, Thursday, May 19th, 125 Hillvue Lane, 1st Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.  Representative Turzai is also a supporter of the WelFAIR package of bills, so here is our chance to let him know where we stand. For more information, please contact Rebecca McNichol at 267-239-3399.

Your attendance at these rallies would be a huge help, as we really want to send a clear message to Harrisburg that the proposed $470 million in cuts to human services that benefit the most vulnerable among us is absolutely unacceptable.  Let’s all pitch in and take action for economic justice!
