Just Harvest is looking for someone who is fluent in Spanish to help us address barriers to accessing vital public benefits and healthy foods for Spanish speaking and immigrant populations by providing translation, interpretation, referrals and direct service across three program areas:
AmeriCorps is a National Service organization that gives adults the opportunity to devote one year to community service and volunteer mobilization. Compass AmeriCorps is a local AmeriCorps program currently seeking applicants for the upcoming service year.
Compass AmeriCorps members are adults of all ages and backgrounds who have a passion for volunteer service. Compass AmeriCorps members provide English as a Second Language instruction and/or social services support to immigrants and newly resettled refugees by being placed in non-profits in the Pittsburgh area for 11 months of full time service. Our AmeriCorps members meet other service-oriented people, perform community service projects, receive professional development, and together have the opportunity to have a positive impact on their communities.
Benefits:
$12,530 living allowance for 11 months of full-time service;
$5,775 education award to be used to pay back student loans or go back to school upon completion (members 55 or older at the start of the service year may transfer the education award to a child, grandchild, or foster child).
Health insurance, child care, and student loan forbearance and interest repayment are also available to those who qualify.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree preferred; some college education required. A demonstrated commitment to community service is necessary. Social services, teaching, or tutoring experience is preferred, but not required. To qualify for AmeriCorps, applicants must be United States citizens, United States nationals, or lawful permanent residents of the United States.
The next service year begins on September 6th, 2016 and concludes on July 31st, 2017. Members must commit to 11 months of full-time service.
