1 in 8 Pennsylvanians Are Facing Food Insecurity
Hunger is not just about food: it is about justice and power. It is rooted in systemic inequities like poverty, racism, and economic injustice. Too often, public policies prioritize corporate subsidies, military spending, and tax breaks for the wealthy over meeting the basic needs of everyday people.
We believe that must change.
Our Approach to Ending Hunger
For nearly 40 years, we have fought for long term solutions to hunger, and for a fairly funded government where everyone can participate in our democracy. Through grassroots efforts, we bring together community voices to speak to the public policies and systems that affect them, and call for solutions that help their community thrive.
Our work focuses on advocating not just for the immediate needs of people who experience hunger, but also on strengthening and protecting the programs that ensure sustainable access to food for all.
Our Impact
For nearly 40 years, our programs have helped over 60,000 families keep food on the table by connecting them to nutrition assistance and other vital benefits. Since 2003, we have completed nearly 49,000 tax returns and refunded roughly $92 million to low income families.
Every day, families tell us what a difference it makes when they can count on healthy food, tax credits, or stable benefits. These stories fuel our fight for a government that is fairly funded, accountable, and responsive to the people it serves.
Get involved with Just Harvest today. Hunger is not just about food — it is about justice and power. Ending hunger is something we must – and can – do together.
