During a time when food costs are on the rise, families are challenged with impossible decisions between buying food or paying their rent, accessing transportation, medical treatment, and other fundamental needs. At Just Harvest, we see everyday how public assistance empowers people to care for themselves, and their loved ones.
The U.S. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is proposing to prohibit mixed-status families from living in HUD-assisted housing or receiving housing assistance. This proposed rule will force families with mixed immigration status to either face eviction and homelessness, or break up the household.
