Paid parental leave in Allegheny County would:

  • Improve public health – for infants, birthing parents, families and communities

  • Protect hard working families from financial strain and stress

  • Advance health equity and address racial and class disparities to health access

Just Harvest’s Grassroots Organizer, Dan McCarthy, attended an Allegheny County Board of Health meeting last month to provide comment in support of Paid Parental Leave: “At a time when the federal government is dismantling our social safety net, I think now’s the perfect time for Allegheny County to think about the tools it has in its arsenal to address a public health crisis like this.” Read more here from Pittsburgh’s Public Source on the recent proposal.

We urge the County Council and Administration to move this regulation forward while incorporating implementation measures that will help ensure its success.

Help spread the word. For the health and economic security of every working parent in our county, we need paid parental leave NOW!
